Elizabeth Peratrovich DayIf you ask many Alaskans, the name Elizabeth Peratrovich isn't familiar. Still, the state has honored her with a holiday every Feb. 16 since 1989. In special coverage by Alaska Newspapers Inc., the meaning of Peratrovich's civil rights accomplishments, which predated similar efforts in the Lower 48 by decades, are given the spotlight.
