Fitness challenge ends with event in Anchorage

Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation is currently hosting Nation of Wellness, a 30-day health challenge that ends with a family run-walk in Anchorage on June 28.

Proceeds from the NOW Family Run-Walk, which starts at 10 a.m. at Anchorage’s Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, will benefit Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation (HANF). Sign up online at www.anthc.org/HANF.

The Nike Air Native N7, a shoe designed specifically for the Native foot, will be available for sizing through HANF at the run-walk.Nike created the shoe to reduce obesity and related conditions in the Native population, after studying the feet of people from dozens of tribes.

They found American Indian feet to be wider and taller than most feet.Nike will use profits generated from shoe sales to support Native health programs. Call (907) 729-1900 for more information.
