Film fest set for Bethel
The Never Set Film Festival will be held at the Yupiit Piciryariat Cultural Center Sept. 16 and 17. Beth Skabar is the director of programming for the first statewide Alaska film festival. The festival showcases short films made by Alaskans.
The festival is scheduled to show across Alaska on Sept. 8 and 9, and Sept. 16 and 17 in Bethel. The festival is free to the public.
Friday, Sept. 16 movies start at 6 p.m. and should run about 2 hours.
The first batch of films are largely about love, relationships and the battle of the sexes.

• “Happy Anniversary,” Brice Habeger. 4 minutes.
• “Cause for Divorce,” DK Johnston. 41 minutes.
• “Dr. Cuddles MD and the Horns of Trebon,” Dana Ovsak, Peter Bradley and Derek Heafer, 4 minutes.
• “Smoke and Shadows,” Michael Bergstrom. 6 minutes.
Saturday, Sept. 17 movies start at 6 p.m. and continue until all are viewed.
The second batch is psychological thrillers.
• “Murder in the Blood,” Claudio Oakley. 21 minutes.
• “Terminal,” Zak Melms. 2 minutes.
• “Lost Land,” Woodruff Laputka.. 20 minutes.
• “The Woods Between” 11 minutes.
The third is a mix, filled with storytelling and documentaries about Alaska.
• “Gunia: Growing up Native,” The Native Heritage Center. 20 minutes.
• “The Recruit,” Michael Bergstrom. 4 minutes.
• “Change, “The Quake Brothers. 19 minutes.
• “Games of the North,” Steven Alvarez and the Heritage Center. 25 minutes.
• “Blue Obsession,” Alan Gordon. 9 minutes.
