AVCP calls for salmon disaster

The Association of Village Council Presidents is asking Governor Sean Parnell to declare a disaster due to the poor king salmon returns in the Y-K area, according to KYUK. AVCP president Myron Naneng, in a letter to the governor, cited the desperation of people in the villages to dry and cache the salmon for winter eating. At press time Naneng planned to meet with the governor.
