Redistricting challenged
On the Y-K Delta
A request to temporarily stop Alaska from implementing the latest redistricting plan was denied by U.S. District Judge Sharon Gleason on June 15, according to an Associated Press report. The request is associated with a lawsuit which alleges that the latest voting district plan is illegal in that it violates the federal Voting Rights Act. The Native American Rights Fund filed the suit. A three-judge will consider the request in Anchorage, during oral arguments at 1:30 p.m. June 28, according to alaskadispatch.com.
