Violence ends in arrest

On the Y-K Delta

Leon Edwards Sr., 34 of Marshall, was arrested for multiple assault charges and interfering with a domestic violence report on June 12, according to Alaska State Troopers. The troopers were called to Marshall after Edwards allegedly assaulted family members, then armed himself with a loaded firearm. Family members chased him from the residence. Edwards returned with a machete and again threatened the family. He cut the home’s communication lines before again being convinced to leave. Later troopers received a call from the mayor of Marshall who reported that Edwards had barricaded himself in a shop near the residence and was threatening to kill anyone who came near him. After troopers from St. Mary’s arrived on the scene, they tracked Edwards down at a remote fish camp on the Yukon River where they found him hiding behind a tree waiting for the troopers. He was taken into custody without further incident and transported to Bethel where he was held without bail.
