McConnell appointed to Bethel Superior Court

Dwayne McConnell was appointed to the Bethel Superior Court by Gov. Sean Parnell on July 11.
McConnell’s legal experience includes service as a prosecutor in many regions of Alaska, including Bethel, Kodiak, Palmer, Anchorage, Juneau and Kenai. He currently serves as an assistant attorney general in the Alaska Department of Law. Previously he served as the supervising attorney of the state’s Rural Prosecution Unit. McConnell earned a bachelor’s degree from Southwest Missouri State University and a law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
“Dwayne’s experience, particularly in small communities across rural Alaska, has prepared him well for this assignment,” said Gov. Parnell. “Alaska’s court system, and the residents of the Yukon-Kuskokwim region, will be well-served by his legal skills.”
Alaska Superior Courts are trial courts for both civil and criminal cases. They also serve as appellate courts for cases from the district courts and some administrative agencies. Superior courts hear cases involving children, domestic relations and property matters.
