Fall moose permits available

Permits for the fall moose hunt in area RM615 are being issued through Aug. 25 by Alaska Department of Fish and Game in Bethel and in villages in the hunt area. The permit is for one antlered bull moose. The hunt on state managed lands is Sept. 1-10. On federal lands the hunt is Sept. 1-5 with a possible extension to Sept. 10. Both hunt areas will be closed by emergency order when harvest quota is reached. The total quote for the area is 100 bulls — 81 on state lands and 19 on federal lands.

Hunters must carry the signed permit while hunting or transporting moose within the registration permit area and must show it to any person authorized to enforce state or federal laws who requests to see it.

Successful hunters must report their harvest within 24 hours of the kill either in person, by telephone 907-543-2979 or 800-425-2979, or by leaving the harvest report card in the drop box outside the Bethel ADF&G office. Unsuccessful hunters and those who did not hunt must submit their hunt report by Sept. 25 in person, by pre-paid mail or outside drop box in Bethel, or online at www.hunt.alaska.gov.
