Kwethluk man drowns
George Maxie, 24 of Kwethluk, went missing on July 24 while traveling by boat from Bethel to Kwethluk, according to Alaska State Troopers. They ran out of gas and the boat partially swamped in Napaskiak Slough. A passerby picked up Maxie’s girlfriend and transported her to Kwethluk. She reported him missing and on July 25 he was found drown in the slough. Troopers reported that alcohol was believed to be a factor.
