Man dies on Eenayarak
On the Y-K Delta
Yako Fisher, 34 of Kwethluk, died July 27 on the Eenayarak River on a berry picking outing, according to Alaska State Troopers. Fisher was reported overdue from berry picking with his wife about noon on July 27 and reported to have been seen headed downstream in a boat. Troopers deployed aircraft and ground searchers to find the man. They found his boat about 9 p.m. 12-13 miles upstream from the Kuskokwim River. Heavy rain and high winds hampered the search on July 28 and 29. Searchers dragging the river on July 29 found his body in the river. Troopers reported that alcohol was a factor.
