Senator Al Adams dies
Former state senator Al Adams, 70, from Kotzebue died Aug. 13.
Adams was born on June 18, 1942 in Kotzebue and attended Mount Edgecumbe High School in Sitka. He went on to study at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and RCA Technical Institute.
Adams served in the Alaska House of Representatives from 1981 to 1989 and in the Alaska Senate from 1989 to 2000. While in the senate he chaired the finance committee. After leaving the state senate he worked as a lobbiest for Alaska Native interests, including NANA Regional Corporation, North Slope Borough and the City of Kotzebue, according to alaskadispatch.com.
Adams was known for his advocacy for rural Alaska in his public and private roles.
Services for Adams were held last week in Kotzebue.
