Man arrested for assaults in Crooked Creek
Aniak-based troopers received a report at 3:24 p.m. July 30 that two adult females were physically assaulted in Crooked Creek. Troopers responded on the following day to Crooked Creek and conducted an investigation. Troopers subsequently sought a 22-year-old Steven Derendy of Stony River. Derendy voluntarily traveled to Aniak on Aug. 4, where he was taken into custody on two charges of Assault in the Fourth Degree. He was transported without incident to Bethel for remand at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Facility. Alcohol was a factor in the incident.
