Woman arrested for assault

Aniak-based troopers received a call on Aug. 25 from a 35-year-old Aniak man who reported that his girlfriend had punched him several times in the face and knocked him down, possibly breaking a bone in his hand. He told her was calling the troopers, and she pulled the phone cord out of the wall jack. Troopers responded and observed injuries to the man’s face and a large swelling on the outside edge of his hand. Troopers were unable to locate the suspect, 29-year-old Wendy Lang, but on Aug. 26 they contacted her at her residence for an interview. Troopers subsequently arrested her for Domestic Violence Assault in the Fourth Degree and Interfering with a Report of Domestic Violence. She was transported without further incident to Bethel for remand to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Complex to await arraignment. Alcohol was a factor in the incident, according to troopers.
