Thank you

Bethel Community Fair-goers took advantage of the one day of semi-sun to enjoy the many events at the second annual fair. The fair attracted hundreds of exhibit viewers, over 200 bird-watching-hot-dog-eaters, 95 runners, and a host of cribbage players, bikers and skateboarders. The local talent show had over 30 performers and Emma Hill’s concert was a huge success. Local foods were highlighted in the garden tour, the Local Foods Potluck, and the community garden exhibit.
The Bethel Fair Committee extends a hearty thank you to the organizations who came together to make it happen: KuC/YPPC & UAF Cooperative Extension, City of Bethel, Parks & Rec., YKHC Nicotine Control & Diabetes, Bethel Volunteer Emergency Services Association, Bethel Council on the Arts, Fish & Wildlife Refuge and KYUK.
To all the volunteers too numerous to name, starting with thoughtful judges, BABS workers, VISTA and Jesuit Volunteers, the skateboard BMX gang, the Lions Club and TAAV — muchas gracias!
To our sponsors — Alaska Airlines, Era Aviation, Crowley Maritime, Grr8 Bear B&B, Brothers Pizza, and Red Basket — merci beaucoup!
Congratulations and thank you to all who entered exhibits and helped showcase the fair’s theme: Cultivate, Create and Celebrate with your grown, harvested, persevered and created items.
This community is full of talented and exceptional people. Start working on your entry for next year!
Leah Walsh, Bethel Fair Committee Coordinator, and Reyne Athanas, YPCC Coordinator, promise even more events next year. So stay tuned Bethel.
