Pollock season ends near quota

The Bering Sea pollock fleet closed up the season Nov. 1 with the close of the B season and the fleet harvesting 99.6 percent of the 1.2 million metric ton quota and a significant drop in bycatch from last year, according to the Bristol BayTimes. Pollock prices are expected to stay around $1 per pound, the average in recent years. The Bering Sea pollock fishery remains the largest volume fishery in the United States.
