Three fishers found guilty
On the Y-K Delta
Three of the fishers arrested this summer for fishing after Alaska Fish and Game restricted areas to fishing were found guilty Oct. 30 in Bethel of the violations according to alaskadispatch.com. The three received fines of $300 to $500 which the judge, Bruce Ward, cut in half in exchange for a one-year probation for each. In the trial the state also reduced the charges to simple violations rather than criminal violations. The attorney, James J. Davis, Jr., representing 11 of the charged fishers scheduled for trial this week is seeking to consolidate their trials, according to an Associated Press report on adn.com. The final 10 trials are set for January.
