Assault arrests made
On the Y-K Delta
William Lamont Jr., 43 of Emmonak, was arrested Dec. 14 for one count of Assault IV and two counts of Disorderly Conduct. At 5:30 p.m. Emmonak Police Department and Emmonak VPSO responded to a call about an assault in progress at Emmonak School. Lamont pleaded guilty on Dec. 15 and was sentenced to incarceration at Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel.
Vernon Peterson, 39 of Chuathbaluk, was arrested Dec. 16 on Assault IV and Criminal Mischief IV charges for a Dec. 15 incident in which he assaulted a family member and caused property damage, according to troopers. Peterson was taken to YKCC pending arraignment. Alcohol appeared to be a factor in the incident.
William Newman, 63 of Holy Cross, was arrested for Harassment II for a Dec. 8 incident in which he threatened to cause serious physical injury to a 49-year-old Holy Cross resident, according to troopers. Newman was transported to YKCC.
Julia Zaukar, 36 of Sleetmute, was arrested Dec. 7 after punching her 14-year-old nephew in the nose the night before, according to troopers. After resisting arrest, Zaukar was transported to YKCC. She pleaded guilty of Assault IV.
