Troopers make arrests, conduct investigations
Alaska State Troopers arrested Jordan Fitka, 20 of Marshall, on an outstanding bench warrant Jan. 11. The warrant was issued for the original charge of Assault IV, Domestic Violence. Fitka was transported to Bethel and remanded at YKCC.
Curtis Elachik, 39 of Scammon Bay, was arrested Jan. 24 by Village Police Officers and a Village Public Safety Officer for assaulting a family member. Trooper investigation revealed Elachik strangled his girlfriend, causing her to seek medical treatment for her injuries. Elachik was transported to Bethel where he was remanded to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center for Assault II and III.
On Jan. 25 troopers received a report of sexual assault in Crooked Creek. The troopers report that suspect(s) have been identified, the investigation continues and alcohol appeared to be a factor in the incident.
Troopers are investigating at report of a sexual assault in Akiak following a report of the incident on Jan. 25.
On Jan. 26 Bethel troopers received a report from the Tundra Women’s Coalition that a sexual assault that occurred in Oscarville. The Alaska State Troopers are investigating.
A 13-year-old juvenile was arrested Jan. 29 on two counts of SAM II after troopers in St. Mary’s received a report of sexual assault perpetrated against two young girls in Mountain Village. Troopers report that the investigation is ongoing.
On Jan. 29 troopers received a report that a 13-year-old male resident of Aniak threatened to stab and kill two juvenile male family members while brandishing a pocket knife. Troopers determined that the subject was upset regarding a telephone call. The parties were separated upon the trooper’s arrival. Department of Juvenile Justice personnel in Bethel were contacted and two charges of Assault III-DV would be forwarded to their office for review and prosecution.
Anthony Hooper, 20 of McGrath, was arrested Jan. 31 on Assault IV/DV, Criminal Mischief IV/DB and Interfering with a Report of a Crime involving Domestic Violence. Trooper investigation had revealed that Hooper assaulted a female family member, broke several items inside a residence and prevented an individual from contacting law enforcement.
