ACLU enters fishers’ defense
On the Y-K Delta
American Civil Liberties Union has joined the legal fight of the 21 Yup’ik fishers arrested in June for subsistence fishing while closed by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, according to alaskadispatch.com and kyuk.org. The defense is also asserting that the state should have done more to curtail other users in the past while king salmon returns declined. The trial is scheduled for April 15 in Bethel.
