Officer charged with with DUI
A former Bethel police officer has been charged with DUI. The Samuel “Colin” Symmes was one of the officers who responded to the scene of an incident last October where 24-year-old Sam Alexie Jr. was shot and killed after pointing a rifle at another police officer, according to KYUK.org. Charges of two counts of DUI and one count of misconduct involving a weapon were filed against Symmes. According to KYUK the charging documents allege that Symmes was intoxicated while at the October shooting scene. According to ADN.com Symmes and his attorney Myron Angstman argue that blood tests done the night of the incident were not accurate.
