Trooper Report - Oct. 31, 2013

 


The following is from the dispatches of the Alaska State Troopers. Those who have been arrested, cited or summoned are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Oct. 1 - Bethel troopers received a report that the Village of Akiak Tribal gaming office had been burglarized. Investigation continued.

Oct. 2 - Bethel troopers responded to Goodnews Bay for a report that Moses Bright, 18 of Goodnews Bay, threatened a family member with a knife. Following investigation, Moses Bright was arrested on a charge of Assault III DV and remanded to Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center.

Oct. 2 - Bethel AST received a report of an assault at Atmautluak school. Investigation revealed that Willie Nicholai, 36 of Atmautluak, assaulted a juvenile by pushing him down a flight of metal steps at the school. Nicholai was arrested and the juvenile was treated at the local clinic for minor injuries.

Oct. 5 - Bethel troopers received a report from Chevak that two adult females had been sexually. Troopers responded to Chevak and investigation continued.

Oct. 7 - Aniak troopers received a report from a 29-year-old female resident of Shageluk her boyfriend Roger Hamilton, Jr., 28 of Shageluk, assaulted her. A VPSO responded and conducted an investigation, after which Hamilton was arrested, charged with Assault IV DV. Hamilton remanded to YKCC.

Oct. 8 - Troopers in Chevak received a report that an adult male was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigation continued.

Oct. 9 - Bethel troopers received a report of sexual abuse of a minor that happened in a Y-K community. Investigated continued.

Oct. 10 - Bethel troopers received a report of sexual abuse of a minor that happened in a Y-K community. Investigated continued.

Oct. 11 - Bethel Wildlife Troopers cited Tasha Kerr, 24 of Lower Kalskag, for Take Moose - Closed Season in GMU18 on or about Sept. 17 after closure of the RM615 Kuskokwim Area Moose Registration Permit Hunt on Sept. 6 by Emergency Order.

Oct. 13 - Aniak-based troopers received a report of an assault in Lower Kalskag. Investigation found that Moses Edwards, 47 of Lower Kalskag, assaulted a family member by grabbing them by the hair, throwing them onto the ground and punching them numerous times, all of which caused injury. Troopers did not find Edwards in Lower Kalskag. Edwards was charged with Assault IV DV and an arrest warrant was requested.

Oct. 12 - At 8 a.m. Aniak troopers received a report that an adult female was assaulted by her boyfriend in Crooked Creek. Following investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Ignattie Sakar, 33, for assaulting a family member. Investigation continued.

Oct. 13 - Bethel troopers received a report of a sexual assault that occurred in a Y-K community. Investigated continued.

Oct. 14 - At about 4 p.m. troopers arrived in Sleetmute and attempted to find Jesse Ray Bobby, 28 of Sleetmute. Troopers searched locations along the Kuskokwim and Holitna rivers and eventually found Bobby in the yard of Main Road residence. Bobby fled on foot into the woods, but after a foot pursuit, was apprehended without incident. Bobby was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Assault 4 DV. Bobby was taken to Aniak where he was remanded pending arraignment.

Oct. 15 - Troopers contacted Moses Danny Levi, 47 of Kalskag, and Mamie Seton-Hoelscher of Kalskag at the Kalskag Airport. Levi was arrested on a warrant for Assault IV DV and Seton-Hoelscher was arrested on a warrant for Arson II, Criminal Mischief III and Burglary I. Both were remanded to YKCC. Levi’s bail was set at $1,500 plus court approved third-party custodian. Seton-Hoelscher’s bail is set at $10,000 plus court approved third-party custodian.

Oct. 16 - Bethel Wildlife Troopers cited Roger V. Matthews, 41 of Palmer, for Fail to Salvage - Caribou, and Antlers Before Meat - Caribou. Charges stem from events which occurred on Sept. 10 near Cape Newenham.

Oct. 18 - Aniak troopers responded to a report of a disturbance in Anvik which took place at about 4 a.m. Investigation found that a male assaulted a family member, and pointed a shotgun at a family member and another Anvik resident causing fear. Investigation continued.

Oct. 20 - Troopers travelled to Tuntutuliak following a report that a 31-year-old male was found dead. Investigation continued.

Oct. 21 - An Aniak trooper and a Village Public Safety Officer responded to a report that Nick Avakumoff, 45, was consuming alcohol at his Slough Road residence. Avakumoff was under the influence of alcohol and in possession of alcohol. A 4-year-old child was present and there was no sober third-party to watch the child. The child was transferred to the Office of Children’s Services and Avakumoff was arrested for Felony Probation Violation. Avakumoff was remanded to YKCC without bail.

Oct. 21 - Bethel troopers received a report that Moses Nick Jr., 80 of Akiachak, was found dead at his home of apparent natural causes. Troopers responded to investigate and no foul play was suspected.

Oct. 24 - Troopers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a firearm at a residence in Nunapitchuk. Investigation found that Jonathan Evan, 19 of Nunapitchuk, pointed a firearm at two family members inside the residence placing them in fear. Evan also fired rounds inside the residence while intoxicated. Evan was arrested and remanded to YKCC on two counts of Domestic Violence Assault III and two counts of Misconduct Involving a Weapon IV.
